This interactive panel discussion will reflect on the creative and empowering community responses to the various dehumanizing intellectual property and drug-pricing laws, which have threatened access to essential medicines and have compromised millions of lives depending on drugs as lifelines.
Panelists from organizations, including ACT UP NY, Treatment Action Group (TAG), Health GAP, Student Global AIDS Campaign, and Universities Allied for Essential Medicines (UAEM),which focus on access to essential medicines will discuss past campaigns and future directives in the current sociopolitical climate while engaging with participants on various issues.
Issues include (but not limited to):
-Access to HIV and hepatitis C treatments in the United States (and abroad) under new political administration
-Intellectual property laws and generic drug distribution
